Don’t punish responsible dog owners

THE report that the Batu Gajah Municipal Council is conducting a trial run to require dog owners to get permission from neighbours before being allowed a dog permit has drawn negative views from many pet lovers.

This blanket requirement by the council stems from complaints about dog nuisance it has received. While every council faces problems with animals and pets, Batu Gajah’s response to it indicates the council’s intent to outsource the blame to the ratepayers of Batu Gajah.
