Villagers appeal for help to solve land problem

RESIDENTS of the Portuguese village have made a fresh appeal to the Malacca Government to solve their long-standing housing and land title problems. They want their 60- and 99-year leasehold land titles to be converted to permanent land titles to ensure continued ownership and progress of their 81-year-old heritage village.

They first made their appeal in the 1970s when their temporary occupational licence (TOL) was converted to the current leasehold title.
