RECENTLY, the Health Ministry revealed its concern over a worrying trend of anti-vaccine sentiments among Muslim parents in this country. Due to certain misguided beliefs, the number of vaccination refusals stood at 1,500 cases last year and is expected to rise to 2,000 in 2016. This unfounded fear has already taken its toll in Malaysia, which has been seeing an increase in the number of measles, whooping cough and tetanus cases of late.
