Feeble assurances

MUCH has been said or written over the question of the PAS Hudud Bill and its effect on non-Muslims and many assurances have been given, not only by the Islamist party but also by some Umno leaders.

There were natural fears on the part of non-Muslim citizens, which PAS and some members of Umno sought to assuage with the assurance that the Hudud Bill applied only to Muslims and had no effect on non-Muslims and non-Muslims were meant to be comforted and reassured by that.
