Check before making donations to charity

MALAYSIANS are by and large a kind and helpful lot. In times of calamity, like earthquakes, fire, landslides, floods or other disasters, NGOs are always at the forefront to provide immediate relief to victims of the tragedies and assist government agencies to rehabilitate the displaced and homeless.

Besides physical support, people also donate cash and in-kind contributions to accommodate and feed the victims in relief centres. Donations are also given liberally by the public and corporate bodies to welfare institutions for the underprivileged and other NGOs involved in charitable work.
