ON Thursday, it was confirmed that a 58-year-old woman living in Klang had mosquito-borne Zika virus infection. This was the first case since Feb 1, when the World Health Organisation declared a public health emergency because of the rising incidence of neurological disorders linked to the virus.
It was not unexpected that Zika would end up among us. Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines had already been on the list of countries with similar recent cases. And micro-organisms never bother with immigration rules.
