Body parts believed to be from missing man found in croc's stomach

SIBU: Human body parts including a left leg, two hands and several organs were found in the stomach of a crocodile in Jaka, Sarikei, on Friday (March 20) night.

The body parts were believed to be that of 78-year old man, Lingai Rabong, who was dragged into the water by a crocodile in Sungai Mekan-Sare at 11am on Thursday (March 19) while collecting nipah palm shoots.

The State Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement Saturday (March 21), said the 4.5m-long crocodile was shot dead by villagers at about 8.50pm Friday.

The department said at about 10.30am Saturday, a longhouse chief, Tuai Rumah Amkan and two of the victim's brothers but open the crocodile in front of villagers.

"Inside the stomach were a left leg, two hands and several organs," the statement added.

Earlier on Friday, a right leg and a heart believed to be from the victim were found floating 3km away from where the incident occurred.
