Elderly man suffers injuries after explosion at home

The walls of the elderly woman's flat have collapsed.

GEORGE TOWN: An elderly man suffered injuries to 15% of his body after an explosion at his home at about 8am Sunday (Aug 18) morning here at Desa Green in Jalan Paya Terubong.

A Fire and Rescue Department official said they have yet to identify the cause of the explosion.

“When we arrived at the scene, a witness told us that a loud explosion was heard from within the house.

“It caused a portion of the wall in the man’s house to collapse.

“The impact also caused fragments to fall at nearby houses and cracks in the walls, ” said the official.

Several other units were also damaged in the incident.
