Bus ferrying private school students burst into flames, nobody hurt

KULAI: Some 38 students had a lucky escape when the bus ferrying them to a private school here caught fire but did not cause any casualties.

Bandar Baru Kulai fire station assistant enforcement chief Mohd Fauzi Awang said a fire engine with seven personnel were deployed to the scene along Jalan Senai heading towards Desaru after a distress call was received at around 7.40am on Tuesday (Feb 19).

“A school bus caught fire while talking the students to their private school in Senai,” he said.

Mohd Fauzi added that when the fire broke out, there were 20 male students and 18 female students, plus the adult male bus driver inside the vehicle.

“No one was injured during the incident, and we are still investigating the cause of the fire, as well as the cost of damages,” he said, adding that the operation ended at around 8.38am.
