Two boys drown in KK river


KOTA KINABALU: Two friends drowned after falling into a river while playing at in Kg Cendera­mata 2, Likas, near here.

The bodies of Mohd Ashraf Abdullah, 11, and Datu Aliudin Datu Aidar, 10, were found at 2.37pm and 4.41pm yesterday by rescuers.

According to reports, villagers saw a fridge that the children often played with in the river.

But there was no sight of the children.

Fearing for the children’s safety, they alerted the parents before informing the authorities.

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the search and rescue operation was assisted by villagers.
