One killed, 41 injured after express bus overturns on Karak Highway

KUALA LUMPUR: A person was killed and 41 others were injured when their Kuala Lumpur-bound express bus overturned at KM33.3 of the Karak Highway.

A Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the bus was believed to have lost control before it crashed into the road divider and overturned at about 6.30pm on Tuesday (June 19).

“A fire engine and firemen from the Selayang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the public at 6.34pm.

“An Emergency Rescue Service (EMRS) team from the Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue station was also rushed to the scene,” he said, adding that all the victims were taken to the Selayang Hospital.

Gombak deputy police chief Supt Tey Kong Seng, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said that his team was at the scene to carry out investigation. - Bernama
