Rahman Dahlan takes legal action against Rafizi

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan is taking legal action against Rafizi Ramli (pic) for mistakenly claiming that the Expo Negaraku contract was awarded to his “brother” Raslan Dahlan.

"In light of the evidence against Rafizi and the malicious allegation thrown at me, I have appointed counsel Datuk M. Reza Hassan of Messrs Raja Riza & Associate," said Rahman Dahlan in a statement on Thursday (Dec 14).

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said the firm is instructed to exhaust all legal means against Rafizi in order to put his continuous slandering to rest.

Abdul Rahmah said he has evidence that Rafizi contacted Raslan Dahlan through Facebook asking whether he and the Kota Belud MP were related.

He said this came after Rafizi held a press conference accusing Abdul Rahman of nepotism.

"I was also aggrieved by the fact that Rafizi accused Economic Planning Unit (EPU) officers of leaking incorrect information in an attempt to create strife between hardworking EPU officers and me," he added.

Rafizi had earlier claimed that PICO Integrated Exhibit Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer Raslan was Abdul Rahman’s brother.

After Abdul Rahman refuted this, Rafizi admitted he had made a mistake.

In a follow up press conference on Tuesday (Dec 12), Rafizi said he is prepared to apologise to Raslan for his mistake but refused to apologise to Rahman Dahlan.

The Pandan MP said he was happy if Abdul Rahman wanted to sue him because he would be able to subpoena witnesses through the legal system.
