Police: Car driver in fatal LDP crash believed to be speeding

PETALING JAYA: The driver of the car involved in the fatal accident at Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) is believed to have been speeding, said Puchong OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias.

In the incident, 28-year-old Lim Ji Qin was killed while riding as a passenger in a car that collided with a lorry at around 6.40am on Wednesday. The driver of the car was injured while the lorry driver escaped unhurt.

ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said the car was travelling on the left-most lane of the highway heading to Puchong when it crashed into the back of the lorry.

The crash between the car and the lorry caused massive traffic jams on LDP and surrounding roads.

He said the impact caused the lorry and the car to crash into the left and right shoulders of the highway respectively.

"The weather was fair and the road was in good condition and well-lit when the accident happened," he said.

The case is being investigated for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

The accident caused a massive jam from Sri Petaling and Kota Kemuning, and Bukit Jalil Highway from Technology Park Malaysia.

The Puchong Fire and Rescue Department, which arrived at the scene at 6.51am, found that the victim had died on the spot.
