Five Bangladesh nationals held with drugs worth RM10mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 150kg of methamphetamine worth RM10mil and packed in six gunny sacks were seized during a raid on a warehouse in Seri Kembangan.

Seven men, including five Bangladesh nationals, were arrested during the operation by the Customs Department.

Acting on a tip off, Customs personnel from its narcotics division raided the warehouse as six workers were unloading the sacks from a container.

The workers, along with another individual standing nearby, were arrested.

Customs personnel found the drugs when they opened the sacks.

The contents of more than 700 other sacks at the warehouse have yet to be ascertained.

“The department will do so once a remand order has been obtained for the suspects,” said a source.

The case has been classified under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking.

Customs director-general Datuk Seri Subromaniam Tholasy confirmed the case and said they were trying to determine the source of the drugs.
