PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has signed the corruption-free pledge, reaffirming its commitment to ridding itself of corrupt practices and power abuse.
Led by director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali, Immigration personnel from offices nationwide and those abroad made the pledge via videoconferencing platform Skype.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner Datuk Azam Baki witnessed the event.
Immigration is the third department within the Home Ministry to have made the corruption-free pledge with the MACC, after the Royal Malaysia Police and Rela.
Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said he was pleased to see the commitment by Immigration personnel to stay "clean", and hoped the public would now have more confidence when dealing with the department.
Mustafar pledged to uphold the department's integrity and clear up any negative perception the public may have.
"We are serious in stopping corruption from manifesting in the Immigration Department.
"The department is committed to providing service that is efficient and free of corruption and power abuse," he added.
