Asia’s top model says yes to mural artist

PETALING JAYA: Sheena Liam, the Malaysian winner of Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) Cycle 2, is engaged to renowned Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic.

The couple (pic above), who have been dating for about three years, shared the good news on their respective social media accounts.

Zacharevic, 31, posted his unconventional wedding proposal on his Instagram yesterday. He proposed to Liam, 26, via a huge signboard in Lithuania, where the two are currently to attend a few weddings.

The billboard said “Marry me Sheena”. His caption “Way too tacky and far too small to express how I feel, but I think @sheenaliam got the idea” was followed by the hashtag #shesaidcan.

Liam also changed her Facebook status to “Got engaged to Ernest Zacharevic”.

The Selangor-born model, who won AsNTM in 2014, has recently gained recognition as an embroidery artist.

“I was more surprised by the billboard than the proposal,” quipped Liam.

Asked about the wedding date, Liam, who will be moving from Los Angeles to New York soon, said: “Summer wedding for Lithuania definitely and maybe one for KL and Penang. We’ll see what my family says.”

Zacharevic received worldwide acclaim in 2012 after creating a series of street art murals for George Town Festival in Penang. The two most popular are Children on a Bicycle and Boy on a Bike.

Liam and Zacharevic have attended events together in KL, most notably for store openings of Dior in Suria KLCC and Coach in Pavilion Elite last year.
