Flight MH3 from London to KL delayed due to technical issues

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH3 from London to Kuala Lumpur has been delayed for "at least 12 hours" due to "technical issues".

Flight MH3 was scheduled to depart at 10.25am from London on Monday and was to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 6.45am the next day.

According to MAS, a "required part" is not available in London and is being sourced from Paris.

"The airline is working together with engineers from British Airways to rectify the issue and will be informing passengers of the new departure time as soon as the technical problem is resolved," said MAS in a statement on Monday.

MAS expects the delay to be "at least 12 hours" due to a curfew at London's Heathrow Airport and to allow a minimum rest period for the operating crew.

"The airline is working hard to ensure the delay is not protracted," said MAS.

It added that accommodation would be provided for passengers, while some would be transferred to available seats on MH1, which is scheduled to depart Heathrow Airport at 9.35pm on Monday.

"Safety is Malaysia Airlines' number one priority. Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets the inconvenience experienced," said MAS.

MAS encouraged guests to refer to its website at www.malaysiaairlines.com for the latest update on their flight status.
