Duo urged to quit on their own

PETALING JAYA: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad and CEO Datuk Zakaria Arshad should quit voluntarily, a senior Umno politician and Perkasa said.

Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said voluntary resignation was the “dignified” way out in the current scenario.

He said the duo should resign to avoid a “trust deficit” which could cause a slide in FGV shares.

“They should be separated. Let them be at different places,” Mohd Puad wrote in a Facebook post yesterday.

Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali said he would hold FGV custodians accountable should the company run into financial trouble, adding that Isa should go on leave or resign.

He said FGV had put shareholders and the 112,000 Felda settlers at risk by its actions.

“I want to state here that the situation in FGV is dire and it will mean the rakyat coughing out money should the Government decide to buy out FGV,’’ he told reporters yesterday.
