PUTRAJAYA: PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he has done his duty as a former deputy prime minister by assisting the special task force investigating foreign exchange losses suffered by Bank Negara in the early 1990s.
However, he complained that he was not supplied with any relevant documents to assist him and that he was only given a day’s notice that he would go before the task force.
The task force should not be used for political purposes, he told reporters at the hearing of an application at the Court of Appeal yesterday.
The Cabinet appointed former chief secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan to head the task force.
It is tasked with conducting preliminary investigations into the losses, which allegedly amounted to billions of ringgit.
It is to also investigate if there has been any cover-up.
