Baby found abandoned at bus station near hospital

ALOR SETAR : A newborn baby boy was found abandoned at the bus station near Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital on Sunday morning. 

The baby, whose body was covered by a white towel, was found by a passer-by at about 6.40am. 

He then alerted one of the guards on duty at the main entrance of the hospital. 

An ambulance was despatched to the bus station, which was located at Jalan Langgar. 

It is learnt that the child was taken to the red zone of the emergency unit for treatment. 

The baby was found cleaned but his umbilical cord was still attached to his body. 

No identification documents were found on him.

OCPD Kota Setar ACP Mohd Rozi Jidin confirmed receiving a report of the case, which will be investigated under Section 371 of the Penal Code.
