PETALING JAYA: A two-year-old girl, believed to be a victim of abuse, has died from her injuries.
Police said the girl’s mother, her boyfriend and the child’s nanny have been detained.
OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the girl’s mother, who is in her 20s, dropped the child at the caretaker’s house in Section 51A here on Tuesday.
“When the girl was dropped off at 1pm, she was healthy and happy,” he said.
The mother received a WhatsApp message from the caretaker at 2pm that the girl was vomiting and ill.
At 4pm, the mother rushed her to University Malaya Medical Centre after the child fell unconscious.
The girl was pronounced dead at about 5.40pm.
Preliminary medical examination showed bruises all over the victim’s body and injuries in her private area, believed to be a tear.
“The cause of death was identified as blunt force trauma to the abdomen,” ACP Mohd Zani said.
Asked on the possibility that the victim was sexually assaulted, he said police were still waiting for the post-mortem report.
