Thunderstorm damages part of Kulai Hospital


KULAI: Part of Kulai Hospital was damaged during a thunderstorm here Monday evening.  

At least 15 vehicles were also damaged by falling trees in Jalan Ayer Hitam during the storm.  

No injuries were reported.  

Bandar Baru Kulai fire and rescue station deputy chief Soleh Nasir said the incident happened at around 5.30pm Monday.

“We received a distress call at around 6.15pm and deployed six firemen to Jalan Ayer Hitam.  

“As at 8.20pm, we are still clearing the fallen trees," he said.  

He added that six firemen were in the area after completing a training session also lent their assistance.  

State Health, Environment, Education and Information Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat confirmed that Kulai Hospital was damaged during the storm.  

“Parts of the roof and ceiling of the hospital and clinic were damaged and blown off.  

He added that houses and business premises near the area were also damaged in the storm.
