ALOR SETAR: Youths in Sungai Petani can look forward to having a race track there soon.

This follows the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that RM30mil has been allocated to build the track.

Najib, who was present at a programme with Generation Y (Gen Y) youths on Sunday, at Menara Alor Setar here, however, did not elaborate on the details.

"The track will benefit the youth, there will be no more need for mat rempit to race on the streets.

"They can race all they want on a track then," he said during his speech, adding that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah will announce more details at a later date.

Almost 4,000 youths were present at the event for a variety of programmes, including a 3km fun cycling ride held earlier in the morning.
