Raja Muda of Kedah heads state awards list


ALOR SETAR: The Raja Muda of Kedah, Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah (pic) heads a list of 50 recipients of the state awards in conjunction with the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah's 89th birthday Sunday.  

Tunku Sallehuddin, the younger brother of the Sultan who was proclaimed as the Raja Muda on Dec 15 last year, is conferred the Darjah Kerabat (D.K).  

The investiture ceremony was held at the Istana Anak Bukit here.

The Raja Puan Muda of Kedah Tengku Maliha Tengku Ariff and Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah were conferred the Darjah Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah Yang Amat Dihormati (SHMS) which carries the title "Datuk Seri DiRaja".  

Three members of the royal families were conferred the Darjah Orang Besar Empat. They were Tunku Laksamana of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah (Tunku Bendahara Kedah); Tunku Panglima Besar of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim (Tunku Temenggong Kedah) and Datuk Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Tunku Sallehuddin (Tunku Laksamana Kedah).  

Another member of the royal family, Tunku Sakinah Sultan Badlishah was conferred the Darjah SeriPaduka Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (SPMK), which carries the title "Datuk Seri".  

Kedah State Secretary Datuk Bakar Din and Baling Member of Parliament Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim were conferred the Darjah Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah (DHMS), which carries the title "Datuk Paduka".  

There were four recipients of the Orang Besar Enam Belas. Kedah Mufti Datuk Paduka Syeikh Muhammad Baderudin Ahmad was conferred the Datuk Murshid DiRaja title.  

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Othman Aziz and five others were conferred the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (DGMK), which carries the title "Datuk Wira".  

The other recipients were state executive council member Datuk Dr Ku Abdul Rahman Ku Ismail, Kedah Financial Officer Datuk Mohd Fuzi Mohaidin, Kuala Kedah Umno division leader Datuk Abdullah Hasnan Kamaruddin, Kedah Appeals Board chairman Datuk Ahmad Zakiuddin Harun and Syarikat Air Darulaman Berhad (SADA) member of the board of directors Datuk Bashirudin Abdul Jamil.  

Four people were conferred the Darjah Orang Besar Tiga Puluh Dua and they include the aide-de-camp to the Sultan of Kedah, Colonel Datuk Tunku Aziz Bendahara Tunku Nong Jiwa.   

The Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Kedah (DPMK), which carries the title "Datuk", was conferred on Alor Setar High Court judge Datuk Hashim Hamzah and Army Headquarters assistant chief of staff (Human Resources) Major General Datuk Jalaludin Abd Manan.  

Twenty-five recipients were conferred the Darjah Datuk Setia DiRaja Kedah (DSDK), which carries the title "Datuk", including Pantai Merdeka assemblyman Ali Yahaya, Kupang assemblyman Harun Abdul Aziz, Senator Shahanim Mohd Yusoff and Deputy State Secretary (Development) Ammar Shaikh Mahmood Naim.  

Other recipients were senior private secretary to the Kedah Mentri Besar Armishah Siraj, Muda Agricultural Development Authority general manager Fouzi Ali, state development officer Ibrahim Abdullah and Prime Minister's Department Special Strategic Unit director-general Datuk Rostam Affendi Salleh.  

National Sports Council director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail,  National Library director-general Nafisah Ahmad and Health Ministry Otorhinolaryngology Services head Dr Siti Sabzah Mohd Hashim also received the DSDK.  - Bernama
