Toblerone suitable for Muslim consumers

PETALING JAYA: The ingredients used in the production of Toblerone and Daim chocolates are “suitable and safe” for the Muslim diet, says Mondelez International.

Mon­delez Malaysia said the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) had stated that food products without halal certification were not necessarily non-halal or haram.

“Although Toblerone and Daim chocolates are produced in countries that do not require halal certifications, our products meet the dietary requirements of consumers around the world,” it said in a statement yesterday, adding that Monde­lez would continue to work with relevant authorities, including Jakim to ensure its products fulfil consumers’ requirements.

“All information regarding ingredients of the chocolates are listed on the pack,” it added.
