MALACCA: A fresh university graduate claimed trial at the magistrate’s court here to causing grievous injuries to a motorist following a minor accident.
Shahrin Dzikri Zulhabsha, 22, from Pernu here, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh.
He stands accused of hitting Andy Goh King Wan, 40, on his face, causing him to sustain a broken nose and swelling in his right eye at 2pm on Dec 6 at Floor 6A Hospital Malacca parking bay.
The charge under Section 325 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of seven years or a fine upon conviction.
Earlier, DPP Raya Shazreen Nadia Saaban requested the court to fix the bail at RM6,000 owing to the injuries sustained by the victim.
The accused’s counsel Mohd Hazri Hanafi, in mitigation, requested the court to lower the bail in view of the fact that his client just completed his convocation and was still jobless.
The court fixed a bail at RM2,500 and set Jan 23 for re-mention.
