PETALING JAYA: Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali has clarified that the directive that “bars” Muslims from hiring non-Muslim maids is just a general guideline.
Mustafar, who took over as the new chief on Aug 1 after his last posting as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission deputy commissioner (prevention), also said it was merely a general circular signed by a past director-general that Muslim families should ideally hire Muslim maids.
