Lodge report over alleged abuse in custody, cops tells Sanjeevan

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are urging Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) chairman Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan (pic) to lodge a police report over claims that he was abused in custody.

"It depends on him, if he feels that he was abused, make a police report and we will investigate. We assure that it will be a fair investigation," Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim told a press conference at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here.

Sanjeevan pleaded not guilty at the Seremban magistrates' court Tuesday to two charges of hiring an illegal worker and committing extortion last month.

Sanjeevan was represented by counsels Gobind Singh Deo, S. Prakash, Pavin Jay Kumar and Haijan Omar.

Gobind also filed an application to allow medical attention for Sanjeevan.
