SUNGAI BESAR: Sungai Besar MCA Youth lodged a police report over an allegation that the party hacked into the handphones of four DAP members to send out anti-PAS and anti-Amanah messages.
Its secretary Lau Ka Yeau said MCA had been accused of using the telephone numbers to spread fake messages asking Chinese voters not to vote for PAS or Amanah in the by-election here.
“The police report is aimed at asking the relevant party (DAP) to show evidence that we are responsible.
“We are giving them 24 hours to show evidence that we hacked their phones.
“And we want them to immediately apologise if they fail to do so or to wait for our further action,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Sekinchan police station here yesterday.
The police report, he said, was also lodged to clear the party’s name after the allegation was published in a Chinese daily.
The text message, which was sent in Chinese, said that “PAS and Amanah (are) the two sides of a same coin. One betrayed us, the other will do the same sooner or later”.
