Avoid internal crisis, PAS members told

KOTA BARU: PAS members should avoid internal crisis and stay focused on bigger issues affecting the party, says its permanent chairman.

Speaking at the party Mukatamar here, Kamal Ashaari called for delegates to avoid internal crisis and focus on improving the party.

"When we reduce internal crisis, our minds are more focused. Today, I see that the discussions and answers are more focused.

"It brings new ideas which can be applied to many areas and are not stereotypical in nature," he said.

He added that party members should work towards informing Malaysians of the party's struggle.

"All of us must work to reduce crisis and focus on how to improve and to introduce the party's struggle to the hearts of Malaysians who have been asking on the direction PAS is heading to," he said.

Kamal was speaking at the tabling of the party's 2015 anuual report for the PAS Youth Wing which ended without incident.

The delegates accepted the report and financial statement presented during the PAS Youth wing meeting here on Tuesday evening as part of the party Muktamar, or annual general meeting.

Among the issues raised were preparations for the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections, the need for PAS to expand its influence in Felda settlements, improving voter registration among youths and having engagements with the youth in Malaysia.

"I feel that is this year's debate on the annual report is of the highest quality compared to the previous Muktamars," said Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudeen, Youth wing secretary and Penang youth division chief during the question and answer session. He praised the organisational discussions, constructive criticisms and useful suggestions which were raised during the report presentation.

This year's smooth running of the annual report tabling is a stark contrast to the Muktamar of two years ago where tensions were running high over claims of irregularities in the annual report.

This was followed by Kamal being rushed to the Kota Tinggi Hospital after suffering breathing difficulties following the uproar over the alleged irregularities.

Kamal had broken down in tears when calling for calm amongst the delegates before he was brought to the hospital and subsequently warded.
