Hudud Bill for the greater good, says PAS Youth chief

KUALA LUMPUR: The tabling of PAS’ Private Member’s Bill on hudud is a collaboration with the Federal Government for the betterment of the people, says party Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Aziz.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday, he said both sides agreed to the tabling for the greater good.

“We collaborate on important matters which benefit both sides and the people. It’s just that certain quarters feel we should not work together,” he said, adding that the party would even work with Pakatan Harapan.

“This is the kind of collaboration we are talking about, and we thank the Speaker and the Government for allowing the Bill to be read out and tabled,” he said.

The Bill was listed as No. 15 on the Dewan Rakyat’s Order Paper, but Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said moved a motion for the Bill to be read out immediately after the tabling of the Works Ministry Bill.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang then requested for the Bill to be debated in the next parliamentary meeting in October.
