Liow: Chinese will back Barisan all the way

PUTRAJAYA: MCA is confident that Chinese voters in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar will throw their support behind Barisan Nasional candidates, says its president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).

“They feel that the Government is responsive to their requests. They want to see a stable and strong government.

“The Chinese community also understands that its vote needs to be with the Government, and not all the time with the Opposition,” he said after attending a meeting to co-ordinate by-election activities chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Chinese voters comprise 33% of the voters in Sungai Besar while in Kuala Kangsar, the community constitutes 23% of the voting population.

Later, at a press conference after chairing the party’s 29th presidential council meeting, Liow said party youth chief Chong Sin Woon and Perak MCA chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon were appointed by-election steering committee chairman for Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar respectively.
