KUALA LUMPUR: More than 200 orphaned, abandoned or children from troubled backgrounds have been placed with families instead of welfare institutions.
Under a pilot programme, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said 209 children who were either in welfare institutions or were about to be placed in them were instead sent to live with families.
