GEORGE TOWN: Buyers now prefer hand-cranked mini fans compared with battery-powered ones after various reports of the gadget exploding went viral.

A shop assistant who declined to be named said the mini fans, sold from RM6.90 apiece, were popular all-year round due to Malaysia’s tropical weather.
