KUALA LUMPUR: Born in Malaysia but without citizenship, teenager Dharini Jayendran knew that life was not going to be easy. But she never imagined the scale of the difficulties that would follow.

Dharini, 17, had been held for 66 days in the Lenggeng Immigration depot without access to her family.
