IGP: New police recruits must undergo profile test

KUALA LUMPUR: All aspiring police personnel will be subjected to a psychometric test before being recruited into the force.

Inspector-General of police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said the series of tests called Malaysian Integrity Test (MIT) is a proactive measure to inculcate high performance, integrity and dynamism amongst its personnel.

"MIT is an assessment tool which has been developed by the police with the help of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti)," he said when met after the MIT launch ceremony at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference 2016 at Putra World Trade Centre Tuesday.

The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Home Minister.

Khalid said that police recruits have been subjected to the tests since last year and that it was a very good method to evaluate a recruit's work ethics and behaviour.

"This means that only those who are truly competent will be considered for recruitment, placement and promotion.

"These tests will also help identify leadership qualities and credibility of a candidate," he said.
