KUALA LUMPUR: A whopping RM9bil was spent to treat diabetic patients last year and the amount is expected to go up as many are not aware they have the disease.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya said the average cost of treatment for a patient with chronic diabetes was around RM2,700 a year.
