Temple gears up for annual festival


Busy time: Volunteers putting the final touches on the boat which will be burned for the send-off of the deities on the last day of the Nine Emperor Gods Festival at the temple in Penang.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Kew Ong Yeah Temple here is a hive of activity as volunteers geared up for its busiest time of the year – the annual Nine Emperor Gods Festival, which starts tomorrow.

The grounds of the temple in Jalan Megat Harun were overrun with devotees putting the final touches on the grand float for the procession as well as the wooden boat to send off the deities.
