Only 8,500 in Shah Alam, Gombak still facing water supply disruption

KUALA LUMPUR: The water supply situation in the Klang Valley and Selangor has almost returned to normal with only about 8,500 consumers still facing water disruption as at Wednesday morning.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said of them, 3,470 consumers affected were in Section 22, Section 25, Section 26, Section 27, Section 29, Kampung Baru Hicom and Subang Mas in Shah Alam.

It said the remaining 4,961 consumers were in Kampung Ampang Campuran, Kampung Tasek Permai and Taman Tasek Tambahan in Gombak.

With the water disruption nearly fully restored, Syabas has changed its Emergency Response Plan (ERP) under greed code in Shah Alam to green code and lifted yellow code for Petaling and Kuala Lumpur.

(A green code is used in the event only one district is affected and a yellow code is activated when more than 500,000 water consumers are affected.)

More than a million consumers had to endure unscheduled water disruptions following a diesel spill in Sungai Selangor, which resulted in four water treatment plants having to shut down operations last Friday.

Syabas mobilised 43 tankers to make 529 trips for water delivery to affected areas, apart from installing 66 static tanks in strategic locations. - Bernama
