THE DKLS Foundation with its partners, the Australian National University (ANU), ELS Language Centres and ICT Learning Sdn Bhd have announced the second instalment of the “DKLS Linguistic Ambassador Award” Essay Competition.
The competition is open to students in Forms Four and Five in national secondary schools under the Education Ministry.
Schools are encouraged to register their students for this competition before the deadline on March 8 at http://dklsaward.english.com.my. Students are awarded up to 17 co-curricular marks for participating in the competition.
The competition is designed in such a manner that the level of English proficiency of each participant will be evaluated through a series of writing lessons modelled upon international standards.
Once qualified, the participant shall be allowed to enter the final essay writing competition on a given topic decided by the judging panel. The top 200 entries shall be shortlisted for final evaluation by the judging panel which then becomes the top 10.
These top 10 entries are submitted to ANU for ranking recommendations in the order of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medallist and consolation prizes.
The best top three winners recommended by ANU will be required to attend an interview session.
In addition to a trophy and certificate of achievement, the gold medalist will also go on a seven-day study tour to ANU in Canberra, Australia with a parent or guardian, receive a cash award of A$1,000 (RM3,460), cash vouchers for books worth RM500 and 17 co-curricular marks.
