Prof Hassan starts duties as UiTM v-c

New job: Prof Hassan clocks in on his first day as UiTM vice-chancellor.

EMERITUS Prof Datuk Dr Hassan Said has started his duties as vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) from Feb 1.

He takes over from Prof Tan Sri Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar whose term ended last December.

Prof Hassan previously served as Taylor’s University vice-chancellor and president as well as the Higher Education Department director-general.

Prof Hassan started his career as a Mathematics lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1984.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Manchester, a masters of science from Brunel University, Britain and a doctorate degree from Brunel, specialising in Computer-Aided Geometric Design.

Prof Hassan also played a key role in the establishment of the National Higher Education Research Institute.
