IT WILL definitely be one of Malaysia’s finest weddings of theyear when local celebrities Memey Suhaiza Suhaimi and Norman Hakim walk down the aisle on Sept 28.
A grand wedding ceremony will be held at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara in Kuala Lumpur.
Memey, 23, whose real name is Suhaiza Suhaimi, will be wearing Rafflesia Pearl Centre’s very first Rafflesia Pearl Wedding Gown, an authentic and unique creation by three designers, including Datuk Jimmy Choo.
The New York-styled glamorous event will also feature Memey in one of Vera Wang’s exquisite bridal collection during the cake-cutting ceremony.
New York-based Wang is a fashion icon who has made wedding gowns for celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Avril Lavigne and Alicia Keys, Jennifer Garner and Sharon Stone.
“The Rafflesia Pearl wedding gown and veil, both intricately embedded with golden South Sea pearls from Japan, will be worn by the bride during the entry.
“Wang’s Bohemian-styled gown will be paired with an exquisite veil, also embedded with pearls,” said Rafflesia’s publicist Bill Bora during a press conference at Lord’s Tailor at Bangsar Shopping Centre recently.
Also present were Rafflesia Pearl Centre’s director Winnie Sin, Lord’s Tailor owner Robert Loh and his wife Loh Lee Lee.
Meanwhile, Norman, 35, is set to wear a black-and-white cosmopolitan-styled tail coat for the entry and a Bohemian-styled suit in tan brown specially designed and tailored by Lord’s Tailor for the cake-cutting ceremony. The buttons and cufflinks for the suits will also feature pearls.
It was reported that Memey will appear in pearl-adorned shoes worth over RM1mil personally designed by Choo during the couple’s entry and cake-cutting ceremony.
It would be the first time Choo is designing shoes for a celebrity in the country.
Meanwhile, the gowns are estimated to cost RM500,000 each. A total of eight bridesmaids and bestmen will appear in lilac evening gowns and suits (designed by Rafflesia and Lord’s Tailor).
“The guest list has been confirmed and about 200 celebrities and media representatives will attend the joyous occasion.
“The wedding attire will be exhibited at the National Museum from Nov 26 to Dec 31 for public viewing along with the attire worn by famous artiste Datuk Siti Nurhaliza,” said Bora, adding that six guest artistes and a choir will be serenading guests with all-time favourites during the event.
