Kitchen King, a North Indian restaurant in SS3, Petaling Jaya is fast gaining popularity among diners.

This Moghul-style restaurant which opened in October last year, is drawing in the crowd, thanks to its reasonably-priced fare.

Former Immigration director-general Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat who frequently dines here said: “The food is excellent and my friends also enjoy eating at Kitchen King.”

Aseh who also launched the restaurant, said he enjoys the vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

Customer service is Kitchen King’s asset as the wait staff are attentive and helpful.

Cooks from Punjab and New Delhi use fresh, locally-sourced vegetables and meat as well as Indian spices to give the dishes their authentic North Indian flavour.

The menu at this restaurant, owned by Sangh Arts – a movie-making parent company – incorporates traditional and classic favourites. The new dishes on the menu feature aromatic tandoor flavours with a Western twist.

The restaurant has opened a banquet hall upstairs which can cater to more than 120 people for events.

Restaurant owner Raman Kumar Bachchan, who is also a Bollywood movie producer, said Kitchen King’s official opening was held off until this year to get customers’ feedback on the food.

“We want to make Kitchen King a household name and serve the highest quality food with the best value for money.

“Our staff are trained to listen to customer comments and convey suggestions to the management and chefs.

“Serving the customer is our top priority,” said Raman who has operated restaurants in a few South-East Asian nations and knows his food well as he was once a chef.

The restaurant has welcomed a few Bollywood actors, directors and producers including Aditya Raj Kapoor, son of the late Shammi Kapoor.

Among the dishes to look out for are boneless butter chicken, mutton rogan josh, tandoori chicken and pakora including paneer pakora and chicken pakora with chutney.

“We often have guests coming over for something light to eat with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

“We make chicken pakora, similar to chicken nuggets, but with an authentic Moghul flavour.

“Our cooks try different cooking methods and experiment with various ingredients, dips, and batter to create a unique chicken pakora each time,” said Raman.

The restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner, is located at the PJ 21 Commercial Centre in SS3, Petaling Jaya.
