JOHOR BARU: Sjn M. Murugiah has always taken his duty to keep the country safe seriously.
The 54-year-old father-of-two said he had wanted to do his best after fulfilling his ambition to become a policeman.
“I started my career in Johor, then moved to Pahang and Penang before returning here.
“I have always been with the Criminal Investigation Department as this is where my passion lies,” he said after receiving a certificate of appreciation at the state police contingent monthly assembly here on Tuesday.
Sjn Murugiah, who is with the D-9 serious crimes unit under the Johor state contingent, said he was grateful for the recognition.
“I thank the force for all the experiences I have gained,” he said, adding that it was his fourth time receiving a certificate of appreciation for excellence in performing his duties.
Another award recipient was Insp Azizul Rahman Rosman, 33, who was recognised for his work on the trafficking of foreign immigrants into Malaysia via Johor waters.
“Tackling the illegal immigrant issue can help bring down the crime rate,” he said.
For Asst Supt Mohd Fazree Ariff, the certificate was a reflection of how the force values its officers who put their lives at risk on a daily basis.
ASP Mohd Fazree, who is with the Traffic Investigations and Enforcement Department, was also grateful for the recognition.
Some 227 officers and the public received certificates of appreciation at the ceremony.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd commended the recipients and hoped the recognition would encourage them to continue their efforts.
