BNM foreign reserves higher on April 28


The Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) will be maintained at 3.25%, Bank Negara Malaysia announced at its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Thursday.


KUALA LUMPUR:  Bank Negara Malaysia's (BNM) international reserves rose US$400mil to US$96.1bil as at April 28 from US$95.7bil on April 14.

The central bank said on Friday the reserves position was sufficient to finance 7.9 months of retained imports and was 1.1 times the short-term external debt.

In ringgit terms, the international reseverves were up RM2bil to RM425.2bil from RM423.2bil.

However, the reserves position as at April 14 was sufficient to finance 8.2 months of retained imports and was 1.1 times the short-term external debt.
