New research body needs capital ideas

THE FIRST time we heard about it was on Oct 21, when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presented Budget 2017 in the Dewan Rakyat.

In his speech, he said the Government would continue to implement pro-business strategies, and these included several measures to invigorate the domestic capital market. That was when he mentioned it: “In addition, (the) Capital Market Research Institute will be established with initial funding of RM75mil, provided through (the) Capital Market Development Fund.”
