To alleviate the poverty of the bottom 40% of the population and increase their disposable income, one of the measures advocated during Budget 2017 is to encourage more people from that segment of society to join the digital economy.

Also known as the gig economy, casual employment is available through tech companies providing services such as Uber, which is the alternative to the traditional taxi, Deliveroo that provides courier services and TaskRabbit, the handyman website.
