DHL Express to raise Malaysia rates by 6.9% next year

KUALA LUMPUR: International express services provider DHL Express has announced a 6.9% increase in its annual general average price for Malaysia, effective Jan 1 next year.

Chief executive officer Ken Allen said the price hike would allow the company to invest in a truly world-class network that generates significant value for its customers.

"Our prices reflect both the value embedded in our service and our uncompromising long-term commitment to service quality," he said in a statement on Friday.

In 2016, DHL spent 800 million euros as capital expenditure for its network, systems and people.

This included a 66 million euros gateway in Tokyo, the launch of new automated sorts at DHL's hubs in Cincinnati, the US, Singapore and Leipzig, Germany, and the pioneering introduction of more efficient A330-300 cargo aircraft in its European air fleet.

For 2017, DHL said it would maintain this rate of investment and continue to leverage its network to make customers successful in their international trade activities. - Bernama
