KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) has bagged a RM188.7mil contract from the Irrigation and Drainage Department to rehabilitate Pahang River.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the main component of the project was to extend an additional 345m in length to the breakwater constructed earlier and river protection works under the Pahang River Estuary Rehabilitation Project (Phase 3, Package 2) in Pekan.

The construction works, spanning 24 months, is to be completed by July 2018.

It said the project was expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings.

It was reported that the Government had allocated RM1.01bil for the Pahang River Estuary conservation project, which is expected to be completed this year. deputy Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Ir Hamim Samuri said last October that it was almost 40% completed then.
