AirAsia mulls sale of leasing ops


Booming business: AirAsia has leased two of its aircraft to Pakistan International Airways, and according to Fernandes, other parties have also expressed interest to rent planes from the airline. – Bloomberg

PETALING JAYA: Speculation that AirAsia Bhd was looking to monetise its aircraft leasing business has been confirmed after its head honcho Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said that the company had received a US$1bil offer for it.

Fernandes said this in an interview with Bloomberg, adding that he needed to discuss the offer at AirAsia’s board level.
